High Performance ZigBee Ready Wireless Module
The DevCom 04HP ZigBee Module offers a fast-track approach to development of IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee applications.
Based on the Flexis series of microcontrollers and the low power radio IC from Freescale, the DevCom 04HP module is a ready-to-use building block that can be mounted directly in any end equipment needing ZigBee, 802.15.4 or proprietary wireless data transfer at 2.4 GHz.
The module has an internal antenna and comes with a 24-pole connector with access to multiple I/Os.
The DevCom 04HP ZigBee Module is available as a module with standard software or as a module with customized software developed by Develco A/S in close cooperation with the customer.
To build a complete ZigBee solution, the module is supported by the Freescale BeeKit development package. A utility supplied by Develco will create the DevCom 04HP as a hardware profile in the BeeKit environment, making firmware customization very easy.

DevCom 04HP versus DevCom 04
Compared to the low-cost ZigBee module, DevCom 04, the DevCom 04HP adds a low-noise amplifier and a power amplifier, extending the transmission range significantly.
The extended transmission range makes it possible to build large ZigBee networks using fewer nodes than when just using the low-cost DevCom 04.
Typically, the sensor and actuator nodes would be built from low-cost nodes, while the router would utilise the DevCom 04HP ZigBee Modules. This way, the distance between end node and router as well as from router to router can be made significantly longer, thus saving nodes and “jumps”.

Software Configurations
The modules are preloaded with MAC based cable replacement software.
As part of the DevCom Module, Develco can also deliver a development platform. This way, you can develop software directly on the module to be incorporated into an existing product.
The platform is supported by Freescale's ZigBee development environment - BeeKit. This software includes demo versions of ZigBee profiles. |
